Omari Sterling-James took the lead just before half-time from a free kick.
Andy Williams then made it two in the 80th minute, before Liam Hughes pulled one back late on.
The win moved the Bulls up to 13th whilst the Tigers dropped to 12th.
Paul Caddis made three changes to the side that drew with Darlington, with Matt Preston, I-Lani Edwards, and Andy Williams coming in for Matt Richards, Eno Nto, and Montel Gibson.
Craig Parry made two alterations to the team that was knocked out of the FA Cup last Saturday, with Bailey Gooda and Jordan Burrow replacing Hughes and Luke Waterfall.
Hereford had the first chance of the game in the second minute when Sterling-James delivered a free kick into a dangerous area, Remaye Campbell got on the end of it, but his effort went narrowly wide.
Worksop then came close a minute later when Regan Hutchinson cut the ball back for Martin Woods, his shot beat Theo Richardson, but Kyle Howkins was on the line to block the effort.
After the lively start, the game quietened down with neither side creating anything of note.
That was until the 17th minute when Sterling-James caused trouble with another set-piece, this time he aimed for goal from a free kick and forced Tommy Taylor into a good save.
The away side came close seven minutes later when Joe Leesley found Vaughan Redford free inside the box, but his header was put wide from close range.
Parry’s side had a good spell around the 35th minute with Redford and Aleks Starcenko both seeing shots blocked in the box.
On the cusp of half-time, Hereford took the lead when Sterling-James took another dangerous free kick, this time it was struck perfectly into the top corner, which meant it was 1-0 going into the break.
The second 45 got off to a slow start, that was until the 56th minute when Williams brought a cross down and laid it off for Edwards, but his effort was saved by the legs of Taylor.
In the 69th minute, the Bulls came close when an effort from Williams was parried into the path of Campbell, his attempt beat the keeper but was cleared off the line by Hutchinson.
Campbell had another great chance a few minutes later when he was picked out inside the six-yard box, but he could not get a clean connection on his strike.
Caddis’ side kept up the pressure; this time, it was Edwards with a good opportunity, but he also could not convert as he dragged his shot wide.
Hereford doubled their lead in the 80th minute when Williams brought the ball under control and slotted it past Taylor.
The Tigers nearly made a swift reply when Hughes struck a half-volley from the edge of the box, he connected with it well, but it struck the post.
Worksop pulled one back in the 89th minute when Hughes headed the ball home from a Mason O’Malley cross.
The visitors pushed hard for an equaliser, but they were unable to find one, which meant it finished 2-1.
