A win under the lights sees Hereford Women FC progress to the semi-finals of the County Cup after a 2-0 win against Ross Juniors Women
A very exciting afternoon in Hereford saw a quarterfinal clash between tier seven Hereford Women FC and Ross Juniors Women FC in the County Cup.
Hereford last faced Ross in the league at the end of October, comfortably winning 4-1.
Ross had an early chance to lead the match in the second minute but their shot went wide of the goal, creating little danger for Hereford.
Sheree Smith had the first shot on target for Hereford in the seventh minute but was unfortunately stopped by Ross’s goalkeeper.
PENALTY – Hereford was rewarded a penalty in the eighth minute due to a foul on Smith, captain Sian Bull scored leading the Bullettes 1-0.
Alisha Herdman made a brilliant block in Hereford’s defensive half, helping keep them ahead.
Jess Kenny was next in line for a goal but was once again saved by Ross’s keeper.
Hannah Pritchard made her first save of the match in the 16th minute.
A 17th minute header from Bull hoped to increase the score but Ross’s keeper made a great save denying her from the back of the net.
GOAL – Amelia Griffiths made it two for Hereford in the 20th minute with a great shot from outside of the box.
Smith made a great effort to get the ball into the box but was unfortunate to fall into the opposition keeper’s arms and stop Hereford’s attempt.
A great first half display from Hereford meant they went into half-time 2-0 up.

In the 65th minute, Hereford had a chance at goal nut hit the woodwork.
Another great effort from Smith saw a run into the box but couldn’t find the feet of her teammates.
Despite not scoring in the second half, Hereford still remained dominant on the ball helping them keep a clean sheet.

Hereford will face either Belmont Wanderers Ladies or Ludlow Town FC Women in the semi-finals of the county cup.
We are away to Halas Hawks Ladies FC next Sunday in the Midwest Counties Female Football League.
