Hereford fell to a 3-2 defeat away to Bishop’s Stortford, knocking them out of the FA Cup.

The Bulls took an early lead through Yusifu Ceesay before Rashawn Scott levelled with an effort from range.

At the start of the second half, Charles made it two, Jack Roberts then grabbed the third.

Andy Williams pulled one back in the 75th minute but it was not enough.

Paul Caddis named an unchanged side to the one that drew 0-0 at home to King’s Lynn with Adam Rooney and Ahkeem Rose leading the line.

Steve Castle made two changes to the team that lost to Biggleswade Town with Charles and Scott replacing Olu Oluwatimilehin and Jack Roberts.

Hereford got off to the perfect start in the 11th minute when a cross into the box was cleared straight to Ceesay who took the ball down and fired it into the top left corner.

Lewis Hudson came close to doubling the lead five minutes later when he was played in on goal following a good move but his effort was just wide.

The Hereford captain had another chance soon after when he was picked out at the back post from a corner but his header was deflected wide by Kian Harness.

In the 28th minute, the home side equalised when Scott spotted Chapman off his line, he then hit a spectacular effort from near the halfway line which looped over the keeper and into the back of the net.

After a quiet period, Castle’s side had a chance when Scott dribbled into the box, he then played it to Harness who laid it off for Brad Russell and his shot forced a save out of Hereford’s number one.

On the cusp of half-time, Bishop’s Stortford were awarded an indirect free-kick from eight yards out, the ball was set for Cole DaSilva who blasted an effort towards goal which was blocked by Sammy Robinson.

That was the final action of the first half meaning it was 1-1 going into the break.

Early on in the second 45, the hosts took the lead when Scott played the ball across the area to Charles who converted.

Three minutes later, the Blues had another good opportunity when Scott found himself in on goal but his attempt was fired over the bar after he was put under pressure by Matt Preston.

Just past the hour mark, substitute Jack Roberts made it three for the home side when his cross into the box from the byline was deflected into the net.

Harness nearly grabbed a fourth for his side when he attempted to lob Chapman but his effort was just over.

In the 73rd minute, the ball dropped to Rooney who drilled a half-volley towards goal from a tight angle which forced a fantastic save out of Charlie Binns.

The Bulls pulled one back two minutes later when Rose flicked a header into the path of substitute Andy Williams who placed it past the keeper.

Caddis’ side were caught on the break in the 84th minute which forced Chapman into a superb triple save to keep out Charles, Russell and Roberts.

Hereford pushed for a late equaliser but were unable to find one meaning that it finished 3-2.
