Hereford FC’s women’s team progressed to the Second Preliminary Round of the Adobe Women’s FA Cup on Sunday 7 September after a hard fought 2-1 win at the MandM Edgar Street Stadium.
In front of an excellent crowd of almost 100, including Bulls Season Ticket holders who can watch Hereford FC’s women’s home games for free, the Bulls fought back from going a goal down to Nell Bloomfield’s strike to win the match by the odd goal in three.
Sheree Smith grabbed the home side’s equaliser in the first half – rounding the keeper to tap home after excellent work from Emily Ewing – before Mylie Jordan came up with the vital wining goal. Great work from Smith saw the ball eventually fall to Jordan who fired a looping shot into the net to give her side the lead.
Despite late pressure from Bath, who gave an excellent account of themselves all afternoon, the Bulls rearguard stood firm to secure a brilliant victory in what was actually their first competition game of the season.
They will now travel to Broseley Ladies FC in the Second Preliminary Round and further information on this fixture will be provided when the date is finalised.
Many thanks to Sam Cummins for the information on the match.
