Craig Hewitt opened the scoring early on before Adam Blakeman made it two soon after.

Jack Sampson then converted a penalty to make it 0-3 at half-time.

Eno Nto pulled one back for the hosts early in the second half before Sampson got his second to finish the game.

The defeat dropped the Bulls to 22nd, whilst the Magpies moved to second.

Paul Caddis made just one change to the side that beat Buxton on Tuesday night, with Sam Osborne coming in for I-Lani Edwards.

Andy Preece made three alterations to the team that drew to Scarborough, with Craig Hewitt, Jack Moore, and Sam Bird replacing Adam Henley, Harvey Smith, and Billy Whitehouse.

The away side took an early lead in the fifth minute when Hewitt played a brilliant one-two with George Horbury, he then fired the ball into the top right corner from the left side of the box.

Preece’s side doubled their lead in the 11th minute, when Blakeman had a shot saved by Theo Richardson, the ball then eventually fell back to him and he made no mistake the second time round.

The relentless pressure from the away side continued in the 17th minute when Warren Clarke was played in behind, he tried to lob the on-rushing Richardson, but it went narrowly over.

Chorley were then awarded a penalty in the 21st minute for a foul on Carr, which Sampson converted by placing it into the bottom left, sending the keeper the wrong way.

Hereford had their first opportunity on the half-hour mark when Omari Sterling-James had a free-kick from 25 yards out, which he got up and over the wall, but Matt Urwin was equal to it with a fantastic save.

The Bulls continued to grow into the game five minutes later, when a ball into the box by Sterling-James fell to Remaye Campbell, he tried to poke it goalwards, but Urwin got a hand to it.

Sterling-James continued to cause trouble soon after when he picked out Andy Williams with a brilliant cross, but his volley was put wide.

That was the final action of the first half, which meant it was 0-3 going into the break.

Hereford got the second 45 off to a lively start, when Sterling-James beat his man down the left, he then played it across to Williams, who had his attempt cleared off the line.

The Bulls pulled one back in the 51st minute when Matt Preston had a shot blocked, the ball then dropped to substitute Nto, who rifled it into the top corner.

Chorley made it four against the run of play 10 minutes later when Mark Ellis headed the ball towards the back post, where Sampson was free to tap it in.

After a quiet period, Caddis’ side came close in the 82nd minute when the ball dropped to Lawson D’Ath, who then worked the ball onto his left, but his effort was headed off the line by Ellis.

The game fizzled out after that, which meant it finished 1-4.
