Bulls boss, Paul Caddis, has today provided an update after holding individual meetings with the 2023/24 playing squad last week.
Speaking this morning, (Monday 29 April), the Hereford FC manager said:
“After only narrowly missing out on the play-offs after a full rebuild and with a completely new squad, I think keeping as many of the current squad here as possible is important.
“I want to be clear though, that while terms have been discussed with players, it is a fact that in football some offers will be accepted, and some won’t.
“We have players who have already been made better offers than we can hope to compete with and others who are looking at different opportunities, including one or two looking at offers overseas.
“However, rest assured we have all scenarios covered and I will be in the market to freshen the squad up regardless of how the current talks pan out.
“We are a club that will not get into a financial battle as it’s unlikely we will succeed because it is vitally important we continue to live within our means. This is particularly relevant when a significant number of clubs in this league can go about things in a different way to us in terms of what they are able to spend.
“I am also very aware that we are a part-time football club and that players have a duty of care to get the best financial deals possible for their families whether that’s with us at Edgar Street, or at step 3 and below.
“Where we are top of the league though, is for the best and most loyal supporters in the league and this should be a huge pull for players. I will continue to promote what a great football club this is and how lucky a player is to play here.
“Over the coming days and weeks I am committed to providing further updates whenever I can, but this is clearly dependent on hearing back from players and how discussions progress.”
